I'm new to pinstra and also to film photography. Along with the direct positive paper, I bought Pearl finish paper to use as paper negatives. A few questions:
Are the exposure times the same as or similar to direct positive paper.
When using the developed print as a negative, do I place the coated side (downward) towards the paper I'm using for a print?
Using a 1000 flashlight (torch) what is a good (average) exposure time to start experimenting with?
The coated side is the dull side, correct?
Thanks all, David.
Add to my post. This morning I did a some test exposures with the Arista paper. One I did with the paper completely unexposed, the other was a piece that I took to the window to expose it, and the last to I overlapped- so parts were exposed and other parts not (or much less so) - I also these outside and shinned a torch on them for a while ....
BUT, when I developed all of them, they were all completely dark to black, with no variation in tone.
What the heck is going on here? Is there some piece to the puzzle that I'm missing? Maybe the exposure needs to be somewhere in the 'middle' between totally unexposed and very overexposed, or .... ?
Best, David.
